FREDERICK'S BACKGROUND
Frederick (aka "Freddy") was first introduced to screenwriting while attending Lenoir-Rhyne College from 1994-1999, under mentor & retired professor Donegan Smith. It was at LRC where Frederick first got into the arts & acting under Smith, winning a Best Actor Award/Sam Baker Scholarship for his leading role in Shakespeare's Othello, as Othello. Other influences he credits from Lenoir-Rhyne College are Dr. Rand Brandes and Professor Ron Mahan. Although he spent many years working as an extra on film sets in North Carolina, he began to pursue acting in 2001, with his first speaking role in the made-for-TV Christian hit film "Late One Night." Then, in 2004, he was cast in his first feature film as a humble slave named "Quash," in the Civil War film "The Last Confederate: The Story Of Robert Adams." Aside from having a speaking role in his first feature film, The Last Confederate, he also helped out around the set as a PA due to the film's low budget. But it wasn't the acting that sparked his writing. Instead, it was an opportunity he volunteered himself for that was approved by Actor/Writer/Producer Julian Adams. The legendary actor Mickey Rooney and his wife Jan had a problem with a few scenes, which called for a re-write. The day was hectic and Julian Adams who wrote the script based on his family's history, had to focus on the acting side of things. Since Frederick was doing Mickey's cue cards at the time, he volunteered. Within minutes, he revised and edited certain scenes, then turned them in. After being told to present the changes to Mr. Rooney, Frederick did so and Mickey approved, saying: "Quash, you're a pretty sharp guy. You stick with it, hang in here in this business, because you have some serious talent." Truthful and humble words that Frederick will never forget, words that encouraged him to "stick with it." Since Frederick's encounter and memorable moments during the making of The Last Confederate, he decided to devote his creativity to screenwriting in 2008, and has since been on the rise with his screenwriting; and self-published his first book.
